Missed-call problems usually come from your answering setting, call forwarding, your connection, or your subscription. Check these in order:
Check your answering setting. Go to Account & settings > Answering Calls > HiFi answers calls from. If it’s set to All callers, HiFi answers every call first and your phone doesn’t ring. You can watch the call live and tap Take over.
Check call forwarding. If you use your existing number, look for a card on Home saying HiFi can’t receive your calls, with an Enable forwarding button. You can also check Account & settings > Call forwarding status. Tap Enable if forwarding is off.
Check your connection. HiFi calls use Wi-Fi or mobile data. If your phone is offline, HiFi can’t ring your phone.
Check your subscription. If your subscription has expired, HiFi can’t handle your calls. If Account & settings shows only Subscribe to HiFi, your subscription has ended. See “Manage your HiFi subscription”.
Check your Block list. Calls from blocked numbers don’t ring. Go to Account & settings > Manage blocked numbers.
Calls that HiFi blocks as known spam still appear in Call Activity on Home.
Your phone rings only for calls that your HiFi answers calls from setting sends to you. HiFi answers the others first.
All callers: HiFi answers every call, so your phone doesn’t ring. You can watch the call live and tap Take over.
Unknown callers only: your contacts ring you. Unknown numbers go to HiFi.
Contacts only: unknown numbers ring you. Your contacts go to HiFi.
All calls should ring me first: every call rings you first.
To have every call ring you for a while, tap Snooze at the top of Home instead of changing the setting.
If calls should ring but don’t, check that notifications are on for HiFi, and that Focus, Do Not Disturb, or a silent mode isn’t muting them. If you use Unknown callers only or Contacts only, make sure HiFi has access to your contacts. See “Give HiFi access to your contacts”.
When a call doesn’t go through, HiFi shows a message that explains why:
“No connection. Check your network and try again.”: Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data, then try again.
“Call could not be connected.”: Check the number and try again. If it keeps happening, restart HiFi.
“Sign in again to place calls.”: Your session has ended. Follow the prompt to sign in again, using the same method you used before.
“Update the app to place calls.”: Update HiFi from the App Store or Google Play.
“The calling service is temporarily unavailable…”: The problem is on HiFi’s side. Wait a few minutes and try again.
“This device isn’t registered for calling…”: Close and reopen HiFi. If the message stays, restart your phone.
“Reconnecting…”: Your connection dropped during the call. Move to a stronger Wi-Fi or data signal.
Also check that HiFi has microphone access. On Android, HiFi also needs the Phone permission. See “Permissions HiFi needs and why”.
HiFi needs notification permission to tell you about calls, voice messages, and texts. If you skipped notifications during setup, turn them on in your phone’s settings:
On iPhone: open Settings, tap HiFi, tap Notifications, and turn on Allow Notifications.
On Android: open Settings, tap Apps, tap HiFi, tap Notifications, and turn them on. The path varies by phone manufacturer.
Also check that Focus or Do Not Disturb isn’t silencing HiFi. On Android, battery-saver settings can delay notifications. Allow HiFi to run in the background if your phone offers that option.
Text messaging needs a HiFi number. If the Messages tab shows Enable text messaging, see “Turn on text messaging”.
If a message fails, HiFi shows one of these:
“Not sent, tap to resend”: Check your connection, then tap the message.
“This recipient has opted out of messages.”: The recipient won’t receive texts from your number.
“Couldn’t send. The attachment may be too large.”: Send a smaller file.
“This attachment type isn’t supported.”: Send a supported file type.
“Too many messages sent. Try again shortly.”: Wait a few minutes before sending more.
For attachment details, see “Send photos, videos, and files”.
A summary or transcript can be missing for these reasons:
It’s still processing. HiFi shows Processing call summary and transcript…. Check back in a moment.
The caller hung up early. HiFi shows Summary not available. The caller hung up before screening could be completed.
Snooze was on and you answered. HiFi shows No summary available since HiFi is snoozed.
The audio couldn’t be processed. HiFi shows Transcript not available as we could not process audio.
Incognito was on. Portions of a call with Incognito turned on are left out on purpose.
See “Read a call summary and transcript”.
If HiFi shows “We’re having trouble verifying your call forwarding status.” or “Let’s get back on track.”, your carrier may not have turned on forwarding, or you may have chosen the wrong carrier. Restart your phone and try again, or tap Change my carrier.
For step-by-step fixes, see “Troubleshoot call forwarding”.
When your subscription expires, HiFi shows Subscription required and stops handling your calls. If you use call forwarding, your calls still forward to HiFi. To get calls on your phone again, renew your subscription or turn off call forwarding.
To renew: open Account & settings and tap Subscribe to HiFi. If you already paid, tap Restore on the subscription screen.
To stop using HiFi: turn off call forwarding. See “Turn off call forwarding”.
For more, see “Manage your HiFi subscription”.
For “No internet connection. Please connect and try again.” or “Something went wrong, please try again.”, check your connection, close and reopen HiFi, and make sure you have the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
If the problem continues, see “Contact HiFi support”.
