Can I make HiFi my default phone app?
No. HiFi can’t be set as your default phone app on iPhone or Android. Your phone’s built-in Phone app stays in place, and HiFi works alongside it.
Calls reach HiFi in one of two ways:
Call forwarding: Your carrier forwards calls from your existing number to HiFi. For details, read “What is call forwarding?”
A HiFi number: People call your HiFi number, and those calls go straight to HiFi.
In both cases, HiFi calls travel over the internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data). HiFi rings you or answers for you, based on your settings.
Why don’t calls from my built-in Phone app go through HiFi?
Calls you place from your phone’s built-in Phone app go out through your carrier, from your carrier phone number. HiFi doesn’t handle those calls, so you won’t get a summary, transcript, or scam warnings for them.
To make a call through HiFi, use HiFi itself:
Open HiFi.
Tap the Dial tab, or open a contact in the Contacts tab.
Enter the number, or choose the contact’s number.
Tap the call button.
You can also tap Call back from a call’s Call Details. If you have a HiFi number, the person you call sees your HiFi number.
