# Do the people I call or text need HiFi?

## Do other people need to install HiFi?

No. The people you call, text, or hear from don’t need HiFi or any other special app.

-   **Calls you make:** The other person answers in their normal Phone app. If you have a **HiFi number**, they see the call coming from your **HiFi number**.
    
-   **Calls you receive:** Callers dial your number as usual. Depending on your settings, the call rings you or HiFi answers.
    
-   **Texts:** Texting in HiFi needs a **HiFi number**. People send and receive texts with your **HiFi number** in their normal messaging app, including group messages, photos, and videos.
    

## What do callers hear when HiFi answers?

When HiFi answers, the caller hears a greeting from HiFi. HiFi asks who’s calling and why, and can take a message or pass the call to you.
