How does HiFi block spam and scam calls?
HiFi automatically blocks calls from numbers known for spam or scams. These calls don’t ring your phone, and you don’t need to set anything up.
Blocked calls aren’t hidden from you. Each one still appears in Call Activity on Home, so you can check what was blocked and why.
HiFi also blocks calls from numbers you’ve added to your Block list. See “Manage your blocked numbers”.
How can I see which calls HiFi blocked?
Blocked calls appear in Call Activity on Home, with the caption Blocked a call from followed by the number. Open the call to see the reason in Call Details:
The caller is a known fraud: HiFi recognizes the number as a known source of scam or fraud calls.
The caller is a known spammer: HiFi recognizes the number as a known source of spam, like robocalls or unwanted sales calls.
You added this caller to your block list: You blocked this number yourself.
What does “Maybe spam” mean?
Maybe spam means the call has some signs of spam, but HiFi isn’t sure enough to block it. The call isn’t blocked automatically. It’s handled the same way as other calls, based on your HiFi answers calls from setting.
If HiFi answered a Maybe spam call, read the summary in Call Details before you call back. If you decide the call is spam, you can report it and block the number. See “Report spam and block a caller”.
What if HiFi blocked a call by mistake?
If HiFi blocked a call you wanted, tell HiFi it isn’t spam. Your report helps improve spam detection.
On Home, tap the blocked call in Call Activity to open Call Details.
Tap Not a spam call?. The prompt reads “Let us know so we can improve our spam detection.”
Follow the steps to send your report.
After you send it, the call shows You reported this call as not spam or You reported this call as not fraud.
If the call was blocked because you added the number to your Block list, unblock the number instead. See “Manage your blocked numbers”.
Does HiFi block spam text messages?
Automatic spam blocking applies to calls. Texts work differently. HiFi shows messages from numbers that aren’t in your contacts separately from your other conversations, so you can tell when you may not know the sender. From there, you can add the sender as a contact, report them as spam, or block them. See “Messages from unknown senders”.
