# Keep part of a call private with Incognito

## What is Incognito?

**Incognito** lets you keep part of a live call private without hanging up. Turn it on when the conversation gets personal, like when you discuss a medical detail or a family matter. Turn it off when you’re done, and HiFi goes back to helping with the rest of the call.

You turn on **Incognito** from the controls on the call screen during a call you’re on. Because **Incognito** also pauses scam and AI-voice warnings, use it on calls with people or businesses you know.

## What does Incognito pause?

While **Incognito** is on, HiFi pauses three things for that part of the call:

- **HiFi’s AI listening.** HiFi’s AI doesn’t listen to what’s said.

- **The transcript and summary.** What’s said isn’t included in the call’s transcript or **Call Summary**.

- **In-call protection.** HiFi doesn’t check the call for scam tactics or AI-generated voices, so you won’t get scam or AI-voice warnings.

The other person can keep talking normally. The call stays connected, and your other in-call controls keep working.

## Turn on Incognito during a call

1. During a call, find the controls on the call screen.

2. Tap **Incognito**.

A banner confirms it’s on: **Incognito mode is active**, with the note **AI Assistant and security is paused**. **On iPhone**, the screen also says **Your assistant is not listening to this call**.

## Turn off Incognito

Tap **Incognito** again on the call screen. The banner goes away. HiFi starts listening again, and the rest of the call is included in the transcript and summary. Scam and AI-voice warnings start working again too.

You can turn **Incognito** on and off as many times as you need during a call.

## How does Incognito show up after the call?

After the call, open it from **Call Activity** on **Home**. **Call Details** shows an **Incognito** tag, so you can tell that part of the call was kept private.

The transcript and summary leave out anything said while **Incognito** was on. The missing part was left out on purpose. It wasn’t lost. For more, see “Read a call summary and transcript”.

## Troubleshooting

- **You don’t see the Incognito button on the call screen:** Incognito may not be available in your version of HiFi yet. Update HiFi from the App Store or Google Play to get the latest features.

- **You didn’t get a scam warning during part of a call:** Scam and AI-voice warnings are paused while **Incognito** is on. Turn **Incognito** off to turn warnings back on.
