Test your setup with a call from HiFi

What is the HiFi test call?

The test call is a call from HiFi to your phone. It lets you check that calls reach you and hear how HiFi sounds before real callers do. Start it from Account & settings by tapping Call me.

The name of the option depends on how you set up HiFi:

  • Verify setup with an Assistant call: shown if you use your existing number with call forwarding.

  • Learn how HiFi works: shown if you have a new HiFi number.

Get a test call from HiFi

  1. On Home, tap the profile button in the top corner to open Account & settings.

  2. Under Phone preferences, find Verify setup with an Assistant call or Learn how HiFi works.

  3. Tap Call me.

  4. Answer the call when your phone rings.

After you change your greeting or voice, try the test call again to hear how the change sounds.

Troubleshooting

  • You see “We couldn’t ring your phone”: HiFi couldn’t reach your phone. HiFi calls use the internet, so check that you’re connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data, then tap Call me again.

  • Your phone doesn’t ring: Check that notifications for HiFi are turned on in your phone’s Settings app. Also check that Do Not Disturb or a Focus mode isn’t silencing calls.

  • You answer but can’t talk: HiFi needs microphone access. Turn it on in your phone’s Settings app.

  • You use call forwarding and the test fails: Your call forwarding might be off. Check Call forwarding status under Answering Calls in Account & settings, or see “Troubleshoot call forwarding”.
