Customize HiFi's greeting

What does HiFi say when it answers?

HiFi starts every call it answers with a greeting. You can use the default greeting or write your own. To see your current greeting, go to Account & settings > Answering Calls > Manage your greeting. The screen shows “Here’s how HiFi will answer your calls.”

The default greeting depends on whether you’ve set a name:

  • With a name: “Hello! This is Alex’s assistant. May I ask who is calling?” HiFi uses your Preferred name in place of “Alex.”

  • Without a name: “Hello! May I ask who is calling?”

To change the name in the default greeting, see “Set the name HiFi uses with callers”.

Write a custom greeting

  1. On Home, tap the profile button in the top corner to open Account & settings.

  2. Under Answering Calls, tap Manage your greeting.

  3. Tap Customize greeting.

  4. Type your greeting. You can use up to 150 characters.

  5. Save your greeting.

Keep it short and friendly. End with a question so the caller knows to speak. For example: “Hi, you’ve reached Sam’s Plumbing. How can I help you today?”

HiFi won’t save a greeting that contains inappropriate language. If you see “The greeting contains inappropriate language,” change the wording and try again.

Go back to the default greeting

  1. On Home, tap the profile button in the top corner to open Account & settings.

  2. Under Answering Calls, tap Manage your greeting.

  3. Tap Use default greeting.

  4. When HiFi asks “Remove your custom greeting and use the default greeting?”, confirm.

HiFi removes your custom greeting and uses the default greeting on the next call.

Troubleshooting

  • You can’t type any more characters: Greetings are limited to 150 characters. Shorten your greeting.

  • Your greeting won’t save: It might contain words HiFi treats as inappropriate. Reword it and try again.
