What name does HiFi use with callers?
HiFi uses your Preferred name when it talks to callers. This can be your own name or your business name. You enter it during setup, when HiFi asks “What should HiFi call you or your business?” You can change it at any time in Account & settings.
HiFi’s default greeting includes this name. For example: “Hello! This is Alex’s assistant. May I ask who is calling?”
Change your preferred name
On Home, tap the profile button in the top corner to open Account & settings.
Under Account, tap Preferred name.
Enter the name you want HiFi to use.
Save your change.
Your name can be up to 50 characters. Use letters and spaces only. Numbers and symbols, such as & or an apostrophe, aren’t allowed. If the name doesn’t meet these rules, you’ll see “Please enter a valid name.”
For example, write “Sam and Alex Plumbing” instead of “Sam & Alex Plumbing #1.”
Choose whether HiFi says your name to unknown callers
The Announce user name toggle controls whether HiFi says your name when it answers calls from unknown numbers. When the toggle is on, HiFi announces your name to callers who aren’t in your contacts. When it’s off, HiFi doesn’t announce your name to those callers.
On Home, tap the profile button in the top corner to open Account & settings.
Under Phone preferences, find Announce user name.
Turn the toggle on or off.
Turn it off if you’d rather not share your name with callers you don’t know. Turn it on if callers need to know they’ve reached the right person or business. Your greeting can also include your name, so check it too. See “Customize HiFi’s greeting”.
