Pin and manage Frequent Contacts

What is the Frequent Contacts row?

Frequent Contacts is a row of people near the top of Home. HiFi fills it automatically based on who you call and message most, so there’s nothing to set up. Tap anyone in the row to reach them quickly.

You can also pin contacts so they stay in the row even when your recent activity wouldn’t put them there.

Pin or unpin a contact

Pin a contact to keep them in the Frequent Contacts row. You can pin from the row or from the contact’s details screen.

From the Frequent Contacts row:

  1. On Home, press and hold the contact in the Frequent Contacts row.

  2. Tap Pin to home. To unpin, tap Unpin from home.

From the contact’s details screen:

  1. Tap the Contacts tab at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Tap the contact to open their details.

  3. Tap the pin option to pin or unpin them.

After you unpin someone, they stay in the row only if your recent activity with them puts them there.

Reorder pinned contacts

Use Edit mode to put your pinned contacts in the order you want. In Edit mode, the row shows the hint “Drag pins to reorder • Tap contacts to dismiss”.

  1. On Home, tap Edit on the Frequent Contacts row.

  2. Drag a pinned contact to a new position.

  3. Tap Done when you’re finished.

Remove a contact from the row

Remove someone from the Frequent Contacts row without deleting them. The contact stays on your phone and in the Contacts tab. They can return to the row later based on your activity with them.

  1. On Home, press and hold the contact in the Frequent Contacts row.

  2. Tap Remove from row.

You can also tap Edit on the row, then tap a contact to dismiss it.

To remove a contact from your phone entirely, see “Add, edit, and delete contacts”.

Troubleshooting

  • The Frequent Contacts row is empty: HiFi fills the row as you call and message people. You can also pin contacts right away. If you have no contacts in HiFi, check contacts access in your phone’s Settings app.

  • Someone you removed came back: HiFi adds people back as you call and message them. Remove them again, or pin the contacts you want to keep in the row.
