Set up call forwarding manually with carrier codes

When should I dial a carrier code myself?

Dial a carrier code yourself when HiFi can’t turn call forwarding on or off for you, or when you’ve uninstalled HiFi and need to turn forwarding off. The code tells your carrier to forward your calls to HiFi, or to stop.

Most people don’t need to do this, because HiFi handles the code for you during setup. For the usual steps, read “Set up call forwarding in HiFi”.

What are the call forwarding codes for my carrier?

Find your carrier in the table. In each “turn on” code, replace N with your HiFi forwarding number.

AT&T

*21*N#

##21#

Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Tracfone, Spectrum

*72N

T-Mobile, Mint Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Cricket, Boost Mobile

##21#

For example, if your carrier is AT&T and your forwarding number is 206-555-0100, dial *21*2065550100#. Enter the number as digits only, with no spaces, dashes, or parentheses.

These codes forward all calls to your number. HiFi then decides whether to ring you or answer, based on Account & settings > Answering Calls > HiFi answers calls from.

Where do I find my forwarding number?

Your forwarding number (N) is the number HiFi gives you for call forwarding. It isn’t your own phone number.

  • During setup: The Enable call forwarding screen asks you to place a call to the forwarding number. That number is your N.

  • After setup: Check Account & settings > Call forwarding status. If your forwarding number isn’t shown there, “contact HiFi support”.

How do I dial the code?

Dial the code in your phone’s built-in Phone app, the same way you’d place a normal call.

  1. Open your phone’s built-in Phone app.

  2. Open the keypad.

  3. Type the code for your carrier, with your forwarding number in place of N.

  4. Tap the call button.

  5. Wait for your carrier to respond. On AT&T, T-Mobile, and similar carriers, you see a success message. On Verizon and similar carriers, your carrier places a call to turn on forwarding.

  6. Hang up or dismiss the message.

To turn forwarding off, dial the Turn off code for your carrier in the same way. You don’t need a forwarding number to turn it off.

Troubleshooting

  • The code fails or shows an error: Check that you typed the code for the right carrier and entered the forwarding number, not your own number. Some carriers can’t process codes over Wi-Fi calling. Turn off Wi-Fi calling, dial the code again, then turn it back on.

  • Your carrier isn’t in the table: HiFi doesn’t support call forwarding with your carrier. Get a HiFi number instead.

  • Calls still ring your built-in Phone app: Forwarding might not be on. Read “Troubleshoot call forwarding”.
