Set up call forwarding in HiFi

Before you start

  • Your phone number must be with a supported US carrier.

  • Use the phone that has the SIM card for that number.

  • You need an active HiFi subscription or free trial.

  • If you have a HiFi number, you can’t also use call forwarding.

How do I turn on call forwarding?

You can turn on call forwarding during setup or at any time afterward. HiFi walks you through it: you pick your carrier, verify your number, and then send your carrier a forwarding request.

To start after setup, use either of these:

  • On Home, tap Enable forwarding on the card that says HiFi can’t receive your calls.

  • Open Account & settings > Call forwarding status, then tap Enable.

On iPhone

On iPhone, you place the forwarding call yourself.

  1. Tap Set Up Call Forwarding.

  2. Under Select your carrier, tap your carrier.

  3. Enter the phone number for this phone.

  4. Tap Send Code.

  5. Enter the 6-digit code HiFi sends you.

  6. On Enable call forwarding, tap Call. Your phone dials the forwarding code.

  7. Wait for your carrier to respond. On AT&T, T-Mobile, and similar carriers, you see a success message, which you can dismiss. On Verizon and similar carriers, your carrier places a call to turn on forwarding. When that call connects, return to HiFi.

  8. On Did you make the call?, tap Yes, continue.

HiFi shows Verifying that I’m able to receive your calls. When it finishes, call forwarding is on.

On Android

On Android, HiFi can send the forwarding request for you.

  1. Tap Set up call forwarding.

  2. Tap your carrier in the list.

  3. If HiFi asks, verify your phone number with the 6-digit code it sends you.

  4. If your phone has more than one SIM, choose the SIM for this number under Choose a SIM to enable call forwarding.

  5. If your phone’s dialer opens with the code filled in, tap the call button. This happens with Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Tracfone, and Spectrum. For other supported carriers, HiFi sends the request for you.

HiFi needs the Make and manage calls permission for this. If you denied it, allow it in your phone’s Settings.

How do I check that call forwarding is on?

Open Account & settings > Call forwarding status. It shows Enabled or Disabled. Tap the question mark for more help.

To test it, tap Call me in Account & settings to get a test call from HiFi. For steps, read “Test your setup with a call from HiFi”.

Troubleshooting

  • “Let’s get back on track.” appears: HiFi couldn’t confirm forwarding. Restart your phone and try again, or tap Change my carrier if you picked the wrong one.

  • Your carrier isn’t listed: Tap Carrier Not Listed to get a new HiFi number instead.

  • “No SIM available”: Call forwarding needs the SIM card for your number. Insert or turn on the SIM, then try again.

  • You’d rather dial the code yourself: Read “Set up call forwarding manually with carrier codes”.
